Arsenal Star Set To Miss Start Of New Premier League Season

Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez is set to miss the Community Shield clash with Chelsea and may also not feature in the first Premier League games of the season, after being granted an extended leave due to the Copa America.

Sanchez scored the winning penalty in a shoot-out against Argentina to give Chile their first Copa America title in 99 years and has now been given three weeks off following the tournament, with the Chilean due to return in North London on July 27th.

That’s just one week before the curtain raiser against Chelsea at Wembley and two weeks before Arsenal start their new Premier League campaign with a London derby against West Ham United, with Alexis unlikely to feature in either game.

Whilst he could find himself on the bench for either of those matches, Arsene Wenger has shown in the past he will not rush people back- after easing World Cup winning trio Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski back into things last summer.
