Arsenal will continue their quest of securing the long-term futures of their players by signing Mesut Ozil down, despite the fact the German’s contract runs until 2018.
The World Cup winner has found himself surrounded by transfer rumours as Fenerbahce continue to flirt with the self-proclaimed supporter, in a deal that would easily eclipse the moves Robin Van Persie, Nani and Lukas Podolski made to Turkey over the summer.
Naturally, Arsenal don’t want this to happen and The Mirror says the Gunners are set to tie Nacho Monreal down to a three-year deal and Ozil will be next in-line, with a deal that will cement his spot as highest earner at the club.
Ozil is currently on a similar amount to Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, the latter of whom tied himself down with a deal over the summer, but the German’s latest contract will raise the bracket of the top-earners at Arsenal.
The Gunners work with contract solidifies their financial security, which has changed dramatically from a few years back when the likes of Van Persie and Samir Nasri were lured away from the Emirates.
