Championship winners Bournemouth are looking to sign Liverpool misfit Rickie Lambert, as they for additions that can keep them afloat in the Premier League next season.
Reports from the Daily Mirror state that the Cherries are eying the former Southampton striker, who secured a £4m move to his boyhood club last summer but has only started seven league games for Liverpool this season.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is looking for English players to help his side remain in the top division at the end of their inaugural season in the Premier League and he believes veteran striker Lambert can be the addition that the newly-promoted outfit require.
Speaking earlier this month regarding his transfer policy, Howe revealed the English-based players are his priority and he doesn’t want players that can upset the tightly-knitted balance in the dressing room.
“You need a balance but predominantly we will go British. Also we do not want any players who will upset the atmosphere in the dressing-room because that has been key to our success.”
Lambert is set to be sold this summer, along with fellow striking flops Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli, and the South Coast could be the perfect spot for him to revive his career.
