Chelsea Eye £30m Manchester United Target

Chelsea are set to rival Manchester United for the signature of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is linked with an exit from Italian football this summer following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The Blues, who lost Didier Drogba and face a similar situation with Loic Remy, are said to be targeting striking additions this summer to compete with Diego Costa- but they face a battle for Higuain’s signature, with Arsenal and Liverpool also said to be interested.

Reports from the Daily Mirror cite claims that United have agreed personal terms with the Argentine international, which could make things problematic for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side- who won’t be able to guarantee the first-team football United can offer.

Whilst Liverpool will not be considered a major threat due to their lack of Champions League football, and Arsenal focusing on forward sales for the time being, it’s likely to be a two-horse race for Higuain- but the interest could drive his price higher.
