Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has backed Arsenal to succeed in the Premier League this season following the club’s purchase of his former team-mate Petr Cech.
Cech moved across London earlier this month in both side’s first piece of major transfer business, which has infuriated Chelsea fans and led to John Terry stating the goalkeeper could save Arsenal up to 15 points a season.
With Arsenal now bolstered in their quest to end over a decade of waiting for a Premier League title, Lampard has revealed the Gunners are genuine title contenders following Cech’s arrival and issued a warning to his former employers.
“Arsenal signing Petr Cech is a big deal. A lot of mates who are Arsenal fans have bemoaned their keeper situation for ages.”
“Cech is a world-class keeper and person and can help push Arsenal into the running next season. Arsenal weren’t a million miles away over the last few seasons.”
“They are always challenging before falling just short but Cech going there, as John Terry said recently, will save them points.”
“Manchester City and Chelsea will be challenging for the title once again. They remain favourites but Petr will make a difference.”
