Chelsea are set to finally announce the capture of Radamel Falcao on a one-year loan deal from Monaco, with the 29-year-old having already agreed a contract worth £130k-a-week with the Blues.
An agreement between Falcao and Chelsea has been present for a number of weeks but an official announcement was delayed due to Colombia’s involvement in the Copa America, where Falcao was captain. However, their quarter-final exit to Argentina means a deal can now be pushed through.
Falcao will join Chelsea as back-up to Diego Costa, whilst also filling the void left by Didier Drogba at the end of the season. After an unsuccessful year with Manchester United, where he scored just four goals, the South American will be keen to find his feet in England.
Chelsea are set to welcome Falcao to their pre-season training camp in Montreal later this month and he will join his new team-mates four days later than the rest of the squad, on July 19th, due to an extended break awarded for his international representation this summer.
