Manchester City’s search for home-grown players has seen them target Aston Villa’s established England international Fabian Delph, according to reports.
The Citizens must strengthen this summer and face a battle to increase their home-grown contingent, in order to comply to strict Premier League regulations. After losing the likes of James Milner, Micah Richards and Dedryck Boyata already this summer, City must now balance their squad- which could be expensive.
Whilst linked to the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley, a move for Delph could be far less expensive- and the Villans man can strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, after excelling in the past few seasons at Villa Park.
25-year-old Delph now looks ready to step-up to the next level after impressing for Villa, whilst he has broken into Roy Hodgson’s regular first-team set-up for the England squad, who went the whole season unbeaten following the World Cup shambles last summer.
As a key-part of England’s future, Delph could benefit from a move to City and the experience of Champions League football- which he is extremely unlikely to get with Aston Villa.
