Manchester United Rival Chelsea For Stoke City Goalkeeper

Manchester United will rival Premier League champions Chelsea in the transfer market for the signature of Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, as the Daily Mirror states the Red Devils see Begovic as an ideal replacement for David De Gea.

United are in the market for a goalkeeping to deal with the possible loss of De Gea to Spanish giants Real Madrid and 28-year-old Begovic is stated to be on their shortlist, providing a cheaper alternative to Tottenham Hotspur ace Hugo Lloris.

However, Chelsea are also in the market for a goalkeeper and have Begovic as their prime target to play understudy to Thibaut Courtois next season, after losing long-serving Petr Cech to London rivals Arsenal last weekend.

Whilst Begovic is said to have his ‘heart set’ on a move to West London, United’s offer of first-team football could see the Bosnian international snub the interest of Chelsea, where he would play second-fiddle to Belgian ace Courtois.
