Manchester United are looking to bolster their defence in January with the addition of Valencia full-back Jose Luis Gaya, according to TalkSport.
The Red Devils lost Luke Shaw for six months following a leg-break sustained in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, which left Louis Van Gaal lacking defensive numbers.
With Shaw set for a long stint on the sideline, with no guarantees he will return to full fitness before the end of the season, Van Gaal is targeting Gaya to come into Old Trafford and fill the void left by England international Shaw.
Gaya is highly-rated in Spain and at just 20-years-old has cemented a regular first-team berth with the Champions League outfit, with it predicted that the young Spaniard will go on to achieve great things.
Chelsea and Real Madrid have been linked with the player in the past and it would be a surprise to see Gaya make the move, as he would have to give up first-team football to compete for a spot and he would also be cup-tied in Europe.
