Tottenham Hotspur have attempted to steal the march on North London rivals Arsenal by launching a €28m bid for Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to reports in Spanish publication Sport.
The 22-year-old is heavily linked with an exit this summer, with both AC Milan and Inter keen, but Arsene Wenger has already met with the player to discuss a move to the Premier League.
Kondogbia starred over two-legs against Arsenal in the Champions League Round of 16 this season, scoring the third goal at the Emirates, as the French principality side surprised Europe and knocked the Gunners out.
Whilst Tottenham’s chances of securing Kondogbia are slim due to the lack of Champions League football, Mauricio Pochettino is said to have asked the board for special attention for the transfer- which could see Daniel Levy free-up funds to offer hefty wages.
However, despite their transfer ban Barcelona are also said to be eying the former Sevilla midfielder and see the French ace as an alternative to Juventus’ Paul Pogba.
